History:
Victoria was born the second child of Bangor, Maine residents Cerise Irene Demir (née Barlow) and her husband, Nichol Benjamin Demir. She had an older brother, Charlemagne Stephan Demir. She lived a comfortable life, as her mother worked in a local office building at a reasonably good rank, and her father was a historian. She grew up very close to her brother, who was about three years older than her. The names were her father's idea, of course, and Cerise just didn't want to fight him on it, even though she knew they were kind of weird names.
Vic had a relatively happy life up until she was about ten years old. They lived close enough to school to walk. One afternoon, Charlie had to stay behind to do some after school work so he sent Vic home ahead of him. This way she wouldn't have to wait for him, bored out of her mind. However, as hours past, Charlie never came home. A frenzied series of phone calls revealed he'd left not gone home with friends, and no one had seen him since school. He quickly became a missing person.
Two days later, his body was found in a park. Given the very public nature, and a lack of cameras, the evidence ended up not really leading places. After awhile, the case went cold with no closure. From that day onward, Vic vowed to become a detective so she could help people like her brother was always doing and maybe prevent another tragedy like Charlie from ever happening again.
Her life from then on became dedicated to that. She studied well before college and exercised to up her stamina. She volunteered where she could, and even studied more than was probably healthy in order to have the best grades possible. While she wasn't the Valedictorian, she was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" every year in high school. She graduated with near-perfect attendance and high marks in high school, and quickly got into an in-state college where she worked on her associate's degree in criminal justice. She graduated after two years of hard studying and then decided to move out to Los Angeles, California. The further away from her brother's cold case, the less she'd be tempted to dig into it and finally find closure--and maybe even revenge.
She became a cadet in the LAPD and worked her ass off. Three years later, it paid off when she reached her desired status as a detective at the age of 24. At this point, she had remained blissfully unaware of the darker side of the world--and its connection to the supernatural specifically. It was in her second year as a detective that she latched onto a missing persons case that seemed to be connected loosely to many others. In the process of following this, in late 2017, she stumbled across another group of killings that seemed related to a cult--girls being dumped, mutilated, with insignias carved into their skin.
Vic followed the evidence and eventually tracked the happenings to a chapter of a cult dedicated to the demon Asmodeus. They performed ritual sacrifice of girls in order to summon their lord. At one point, Vic snuck in to bear witness to the events and make arrests, but what happened wasn't what she expected. The summoning actually worked, and the demon, distressed at their continued mutilation of innocent girls when really, just a slice across the cultists' own palms would work, decided to claim both the girl sacrificed to him and Vic, who he sensed hiding in the room. Discovered and forced from her hiding spot, the detective made a gamble and decided to try and talk her way out of it. She offered to remove the cultists who refused to listen to his orders from his hair, thus removing his need to heal mutilated girls and no longer needing to protect stubborn cultists he didn't even like. He accepted the offer, which, while not a deal with a demon, was still something for him. So he gave her a freebie and a lead on her case.
Vic arrested the cultists, with one of them being murdered and changed to replace the girl that Asmodeus couldn't give up. Vic then took the footage of the locale the cultists used and began reviewing it, learning that they received the kidnapped girl from a mysterious figure. Making note of approximate details, she finally had a lead from the missing girls: a local hospital that offered discounts to college students without insurance. Pleased with this information, Vic went home and rested with her cat, Clawde.
...And she woke up with the demon from before in her bed, clinging to her. She freaked out, but the incident resolved with her going out for errands. When she got back from them, he revealed he'd put a down-payment on a new home for them. After prodding, she realized there was something he couldn't tell her. Since she had a street cam set up for her own use due to paranoia, she checked it and realized that she was being stalked by the mysterious person from before. Knowing she was in danger now, she just accepted the move and took a (much-needed anyway) vacation.
In the time following, she learned more about the demons and eventually even pinpointed exactly who she was looking for. At about this point, a new person came to live with them: Asmodeus' secretary, a demon named Lilith after the original mythological Lilith. At some point, without Vic realizing it at first, the three entered into a relationship while Vic began to track Faust.
